Basic Fabric Coasters

Making fabric coasters are quick and easy to make. They make great gifts and also are good to sell since you can make lots of them in an afternoon.
Materials:
Cotton fabric of your choice
Cotton batting or felt
Thread (I used a contrasting color in the first one and a matching color in the second one.)
Sewing machine if you are wishing to use it or a needle and thimble if you are sewing by hand.
Pinking shears

Coaster No. 1
1. Cut 2 pieces of cotton fabric 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches
2. Cut 1 piece of cotton batting or felt same size
3. Layer the fabric
* 1 cotton fabric with right side facing down
* 1 batting or felt
* 1 cotton fabric facing up
4. sew a square around the fabric 1 inch from end
5. Sew a second square 1/4 inch from end
6. Using pinking shears, cut close to the sewing line.
You are now done!

Coaster No. 2
1. Cut 2 pieces of cotton fabric 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches
2. Cut 1 piece of cotton batting or felt same size
3. Layer the fabric
* 1 cotton fabric with wrong side facing down
* 1 cotton with wrong fabric facing up
* 1 batting or felt
4. sew a square around the fabric 1/4 inch from end, leaving a small area for turning.
5. Turn your work so that the batting is in the middle of your work.
6. Use a tool, like a pencil, to turn the corners so that they are nice and sharp.
7. Iron your work .
You are now done!
